Two new illuminated relief panels left the studio: a horse wrapped in a ring of carved flames, and a peacock whose feathers hold dozens of points of light.
Relief carving is all about light and shadow. With these two panels we took that literally and built the light into the carving itself.
Fire Horse
A horse's head bows inside a ring of flames. Every flame is carved separately so the light catches each edge, and the panel glows warm gold in a dark room. Under UV light, the same panel shifts to a deep blue and amber.
Golden Peacock
The peacock's tail fans across the whole panel, with dozens of small lights set into the feathers. Hung on a feature wall, it becomes the brightest thing in the room without a single lamp.
